The location
Paleros. The quiet side of the Ionian.
A harbour town on the mainland coast, facing Lefkas, Meganissi and Scorpios.
What Paleros is
A village first, a destination second.
Paleros sits on a wide bay on the west coast of mainland Greece, with the Acarnanian mountains behind it and the Ionian islands in front. It is a real village, lived in all year, with a harbour, a square, a bakery and a waterfront of tavernas.
It has stayed quiet because it was never developed for mass tourism. There are no large hotels and no high-rise. What it does have is sheltered water, long sunsets over Lefkas and a pace that people tend to come back for.
THEA PANORAMA lies on the hillside above the village. From there the whole bay is in view, and the harbour is only minutes away.
Getting there

What is nearby
Everything within a short drive or a short sail.

Harbour and marina
Paleros has its own small harbour with moorings along the quay. Vounaki marina, a few minutes down the coast, offers full yacht services and charter.
Tavernas
The waterfront is lined with family-run tavernas and cafés. Fish comes off the boats in the morning and the tables stand a few steps from the water.
Beaches
The town beach is next to the harbour. Potamaki, Vathiavali and the long bay at Pogonia are a short drive away, with clear, shallow water.
The islands
Meganissi, Scorpios, Kalamos and Kastos lie just offshore. This is some of the calmest and most popular sailing water in Greece, and a day boat is enough to explore it.
